Sabane.

Dear Ramsay,

Silver for China.

I now enclose copy of my letter to addin

of the 13th of September, which contains the modifications desired by both of you, copy of a telegram from Addis to the Head Office of the Bank at Hong Kong of the 14th of September and of the reply from Hong Kong of the 19th.

I saw Addie again today and placed before him the alternative scheme enclosed. He thought the scheme feasible and will telegraph about it to Hong Kong when he learns if you concur.

Will you let me know as soon as possible whether you agree to the scheme or a modified form of it?

You will see that in the scheme as laid

before Addis I have noted the advantages to the Pank, I now note that in return for carrying out addis's original demand (which I think we shall have to meet in part anyway) there will be the following advantages

to India;-

SIR M. RAMSAY, K.C.B.,
